She had thought about and imagined this moment for years, but she’d never expected…
To be so overwhelmed with the feeling of freedom.

It seemed like forever since her brother had got married to her sister-in-law, Maggie. Maggie always wanted to be the most important female in the family, and Ellie was simply the person in the way. Maggie basically wanted to be the one there could spend all the money the parents were going to leave behind. Maggie spent her time telling Ellie she was a waste of space, and nobody wanted her around. She was basically making Ellie leave and forget about everything to do with the living at home with the family.

For years, Ellie has simply taken the abuse and ignored it. Mind you, she had not been ignoring it completely but had been biding her time until everything worked out right. That time was today when a simple letter would arrive through the door. The letter was an acceptance into a university on a full scholarship. It also meant that she would live completely separate to Maggie.

The rest of the family were well aware of what Ellie was doing, and they had been actively encouraging it. They wanted her to live her dream.

She couldn’t wait to share the news and see the look of horror when Maggie realised Ellie was the one paying for the lifestyle and not the parents.
