FFFC: Commute to nowhere

It was just another regular Wednesday morning commute to work when it happened. Everything was normal as I was cycling through London. The traffic was very busy, as per usual, when I was speeding towards London Bridge. I can remember hearing the chimes of Big Ben announcing 9 AM as I passed.
I swore quietly to myself, realising I was going to be late for work that morning. I put my head down and forced myself to pedal faster through the traffic. There was a loud thud and something catapulted me forwards. I remember thinking for a moment that I would fall off. When I next glanced up, the traffic had vanished along with the lower levels, which had become clouds.
Then it hit me. This was the day I died.

I wrote this inspired by this week’s fandango’s flash fiction challenge.
