For this week’s song lyric Sunday, they have given the prompt of cappuccinos/coffee/mocha/latte. I have chosen the song coffee and TV by blur.
This is a song about being on your own with nothing to fill your day except coffee and TV. It is talking about being bored and becoming brain-dead from the lack of activity. The song stating sociability is hard enough, so it is talking about a recluse who doesn’t want to talk with other people who only pretend to care about how you are feeling.
Not one of my favourites by the band, but it did eerily predict pandemic life where everybody is doing just that in order to fill their time.
