FFFC: Pride

The moment the notification appeared on the screen was possibly the best day of the young man’s life so far. The cry of delight that accompanied the raising of his arms in triumph echoed around the small room. Even his younger sister pointed at the screen for some version of pride.

He found that interesting, because normally she would have reacted with jealousy as she watched the moment of triumph. Maybe, just maybe, she had realised that she would do no better than that moment. Finally, the completion of the game belonged to him, and he intended on keeping it, forever.

I wrote this inspired by this week fandango’s flash fiction challenge.
