This week’s photo prompt is provided by Yinglan. Thank you Yinglan for our photo prompt!
There was an old cart rotting in a little alley that was once the main road between the two towns. What was distinctly strange about this sight was that the cargo had been left whole to rot along with its carrier.
I often wondered way it had been left undisturbed but then my father explained the story to me. Apparently, the cart had been ambushed by some wannabe highwaymen. Rather than giving up everything, the driver was willing to fight. Along with his horse, he managed to overcome the robbers and his load was left intact.
Unfortunately, both driver and horse had been fatally injured in the battle. As the story goes, they had both awaited the maker exactly where they were.
This is the reason nobody has ever come to claim that load. It is rumoured that anybody who tries will meet driver and horse willing to protect it.

What a story straight from the olden era. Well written, Angie.
