For Janine, managing the till had become almost a routine. It had been a long time since she had found herself looking up at the customer.
However, today was different. While she scanned things the ring on her customer’s finger caught her eye. The pink diamond was unmistakable.
Janine could remember throwing the engagement ring in Gary’s face because the colour displeased her. She looked up into the eyes of her replacement.
The other girl was beautiful.
Suddenly she wished she had agreed so that maybe, just maybe, she could have been the customer rather than just on the till.

Great story Angie! She is feeling regrets about throwing the ring back at him! Rightly so. 🙂

Definitely a mistake on her part! Thanks for reading.

Gasp. Gary reused the engagement ring? Big red flag. Then again, she did throw the engagement because she dislike the colour…something tells me Gary is much happier with the “replacement” than he ever would have been with Janine.
Great writing as always Angie!

Maybe he just gave her the ring as a ring! Thanks for reading.

I feel a bit sorry for her, but I guess it was her mistake. Maybe one day on the till she will look up and find a new love!

Yeah, but sure she’ll be okay. Thanks for reading.

Hard to see forsure, that her ex is supposedly happy. But I!’d say Gary doesn’t have much taste in jewelry. Not to mention, even though she wishes to be on the otherside of the till, I’m guessing there were good reasons they broke up. Gary being one of them. Great write!

I think she just came to realise that pink diamonds are probably expensive, so too could have been shopping with his money! Thanks for reading.

Ah I see, yes too bad she didn’t know that. Yes pink diamonds are expensive I’ve never seen one such as this picture though — just lighter pink ones, so it seemed to me it was a fake.

I have never seen one that colour either! Maybe it is actually made of candy 🙂

She threw the ring because she didn’t like the color? That response seems a bit over the top. Gary got lucky with his alternative choice.

I think he got very lucky indeed! Thanks for reading.

I felt sad when I realize the customer was the new girl but when I read the last line, it doesn’t hurt that much anymore. Maybe she regret the kind of life she had thrown but she doesn’t sound like she’s still in love with Gary. She’ll get over it for sure. 🙂
Lovely tale, Angie. 🙂

I am sure that she will get over any petty jealousy. Thanks for reading.

I’d say she’d been content enough without Gary until seeing the ring reminded her of him. Why she finished with Gary in the first place was surely because she didn’t want to be engaged to him. Could she be feeling a little bit jealous of this beautiful girl wearing an expensive ring and not having to stand at a boring till all day? A thought-provoking story, Angie. 🙂

She was probably hoping that he would never get over her and be happy. That, and she didn’t want to be the one buying the till, she wanted to be shopping! Thanks for reading.

An enjoyable story, Angle. I’d say that Gary is better off without her – that she threw the engagement ring back in his face because she disliked the colour shows just how spoilt and selfish she is! Nicely done. 🙂

Regret always comes at last however, a pink ring is not enough reason to marry without loving the man.

There was probably something else that contributed to saying no other than just the colour of the ring! Thanks for reading.
