Alicia is still couldn’t believe that she had managed to pull it all off. She sat down at the coffee table and ordered a drink as a celebration. In fact, the occasion was so magnificent that she decided to treat herself to one of the brownies that were staring at her so temptingly.
When the drink arrived she blew the steam away from the top of the mug and grinned at her partner.
Across the table, her partner did not smile. “This was a great idea until you decorated the outside. The whole thing isn’t inconspicuous anymore and that was the whole point of buying the rooms above a coffee shop.”
Her bright smile slipped. “You don’t like it?”
“Our clientele was going to be more upper-class who would appreciate discretion. Instead, you have made it look like some kind of cheap and average brothel!”
She shrugged and bit into the brownie, “It is what it is. You just bring me customers.”

LOL. Well, brothel-look aside, I think it’d be fun to live in a room with such a brightly colored exterior. Makes giving directions super easy 😉

Maybe making it look obvious as a way of actually making it discreet… Who knows? Thanks for reading.

Didn’t see that coming, an innocent cafe becoming a brothel. You never know what’s happening behind closed doors!! Great piece.

I guess the pleasant facade would make business less obvious.

Love your story, funny my first thoughts on seeing the image was to write about about someone standing outside a brothel!

Perfect contrast of the sweet treat of the brownie and the “sweet treats” of the brothel. Wonderful story telling.

There are plenty of treats in a brothel, but sometimes only chocolate will do! Thanks for reading.

Nice touch to add the brownie, makes her seem a more well-rounded person in so few words.

Interesting take. I like that you made this place a brothel, kind of suits it actually. I know her partner wanted a more secretive and upscale place, but this place could have an appeal of its own. I kind of picture it in Amsterdam or some place like that, complete with special brownies and joints to smoke lol.

I never even considered Amsterdam! That would be the perfect place for a coffee shop like this 🙂 Thanks for reading.
