“It was really dark last night, but I’m pretty sure this is the place.”
Johnny looked dubiously at the rickety -looking bridge that crossed the river. “It’s covered. Simon, you know I would prefer doing this kind of deal somewhere we can at least call for help.”
“Come on, do you seriously think that anybody would do this shady business out in the open?”
“I guess not.”
Simon reached over to place his hand on his younger brother’s shoulder. “It’s not too late. We don’t have to turn up for this meeting. We can just walk away with no questions asked.”
He actually found that he was really giving this serious consideration. Was he really brave enough to go through with the plan that had been hatched over some drinks? Johnny stuffed his hands in his pockets and lifted his chin.
The decision was made and there was no turning back now. “You know there will be consequences from changing our minds, so we should just go for it.” He started walking towards the opening of the bridge.
Another man was waiting inside. “You got the money?” An envelope changed hands. “Give me a day and he will be dead.”

A nice build up to the sinister conclusion. Sums up nicely the fear of engaging in something shady.
