Monday journal 30/11/2015

Okay, so here we are on another Monday. Amazingly, this is also the last day in November, so where did this month actually go? Well, this should have been the day that I was going to reach my goal with NaNoWriMo, but that never actually happened. In actuality, I am not even slightly close to my goal. There is no way that I am going to finish my first draft by the end of the day, but, never mind, there is always the camps to look forward to 🙂 (Although, I am hoping that I will have finished this draft by the time the camps open their doors!) I know, famous last words, so I shall keep my mouth firmly shut on that one.

On a slightly happier note, my work in progress has now scaled to the giddy heights of 70,000 words, so that is definitely a reason to celebrate! I am really enjoying my work on this, and am greatly looking forward to finishing this draft so that I am able to start on the editing process. Don’t get me wrong, I know that I still have a long way to go (especially because I have not actually finished the first draft yet!). I am looking forward to the challenges that it is going to give me in the process before I could even think about sending it to a publisher.

It still does not have a title yet, but that is probably the least of my problems with it.

You have probably noticed that I have not produced my gratitude journal in a good few weeks. This is not because nothing has happened that I am grateful for, it is more to do with the fact that I never have time to update it. I am probably going to have to change the day that I do this because Sundays just seem to run away with me.

The flash fiction pieces that I have been producing have been getting a very good response. I actually quite proud of the work that I have done. Not to mention the tribute piece that I did for Barbara. It is true that I did not really know the woman, and I had only actually done a handful of the Monday finish the story challenges. However, I really enjoyed doing them and actually looked forward to them coming into my inbox every week. This is definitely a challenge that will be sadly missed.

So with Monday finish the story, and the midweek blues buster challenges disappearing I will have to go and find some more. I actually find that these help get me in the frame of mind to start working on my work in progress. I believe, probably wrongly, that these are helping me to become a better writer, as I am now more aware of the words that I use.

Not only that, but I really enjoy them!

On a personal level, I have been incredibly busy over the past few weeks… Which is partly why I failed in the whole NaNoWriMo challenge. I am not sure it is going to calm down in December because, you know, Christmas is going to happen. Yeah, bring on the chaos!

Until next week, keep writing (or reading)!
