Hardened gambler

This is my attempt into this week’s FFfAW challenge. In this challenge you are given a picture and asked to write a piece of fiction of up to 175 words inspired by that picture. This week’s picture has been provided by Scott.

This is my 145 words story that was inspired by this picture. Enjoy!

William almost fell outside of the saloon, and adjusted his hat as he tried to regain his balance. He was leaning against a post just staring straight ahead of him. His eyes were not quite focused, which was the reason he had given for the fact that he had lost the game of cards inside. As a gambler, William did not often lose when it came to cards. You could certainly say that he was angry at himself for letting those drinks get the better of him.
He sniffed. No use trying to relive the past, so nothing was left for him but to return home and sleep it off. Tomorrow he would return and try to win back those coins.
There was only one question that he needed the answer to before he could go home. Exactly which one of these was his horse?

  1. Cute story Angie! I would have to say William is pretty inebriated to not know which horse is his. Poor guy is probably going to have to walk home. LOL! Hopefully, he can win back what he lost but that is highly unlikely. Great story! Thank you for participating in the FFfAW Challenge!
